hello

i’m adette, an art director and artist in new york city, and this is my book. welcome to ohcontrer.com.

ohcontrer is where advertising and art intersect, where business and beauty come together to create work that’s both strategic and emotional, since to me, advertising and art are two sides of the same coin.

you can click on any of the links below to view the piece. on this side of ohcontrer, you’ll find my advertising work – digital, print, guerilla, and branding. if you click on see artwork at the bottom of the page, you can meet té and view some of my art pieces – gouache, graphite, and ink.

wake up. life is no fairy tale.

gardasil: wake up campaign is not your average disease-awareness push; it’s a modern fairy tale. movie posters and print ads drive young women to lifeisnofairytale.com. once they arrive at the site, they’ll be dazzled by the shiny fairy dust. but more importantly, they’ll find the heart of the campaign: documentaries on how HPV and cervical cancer has affected women just like them. i mean, who doesn’t want to live happily ever after? (print, website, and banners – 2009)

what if you were the son of pablo escobar?

sins of my father documentary website is a new, more comprehensive way to view a documentary. the film follows the story of sebastian marroquin, son of pablo escobar, the most notorious drug trafficker of our times. needless to say, the site had to be just as epic as the film, so we created an experience that shows the history of the escobar family and the country of colombia through a rich timeline. as bonuses, we’ve scattered hidden easter eggs throughout the site to reward explorers with scrapbooks, amazing photographs, and even birthday cards written by the king of cocaine himself. (website – 2010)
*update: the documentary released at sundance and various other international film festivals and has recently been bought by hbo. hot damn.

watch me have the right conversation.

gardasil: the right conversation campaign shows young women how to start discussions with their doctors in order to avoid the negative social, physical, and emotional consequences of contracting HPV. you know how gossip goes. the site starts with a simulated text message which guides the user through the experience. after hearing several conversations between young women, the user then sees step-by-step instructions on how to begin the right conversation: one with a doctor. are you ready to simplify your life?

bayer breeze2 meter: 10 strips letter is a print piece that illustrates the market advantage of the bayer breeze2 meter. most diabetes meters use test strips, but the breeze2 utilizes one disc. the double-sided transparent envelope prompts the consumer to choose one side: simple or complicated. the first side contains a letter in one piece, and the second contains a letter that’s shredded into 10 separate strips, giving the consumer first-hand experience with simplicity. turn it up. (current project)

relatv media website is a project i’m designing for my friend’s company. he specializes in motion graphics for major broadcast networks. you know those little vignettes that pop up at the bottom of the screen while you’re watching tv? or those reenactments on the discovery channel? or the award show screen transitions on espn? that’s them. so i thought it would be appropriate to take my inspiration from old televisions (you know… from waaaay back in the ’80s!). i took the static and the dials and added a modern twist to them. voila! some screenshots of my work in progress. (website – 2010)
